Generative Biomimicry
Milan Design Week 2026 · Coalescence, the AA at Alcova.
A 3D metal-printed chair, made with Adam Holloway, Boyuan Yu and Jianing Luo, shown in Coalescence, the Architectural Association's exhibition at Alcova during Milan Design Week 2026. Set in the Lavanderia of a former military hospital, Coalescence gathered 30 objects by 25 AA designers around a central table of reclaimed stone and raw ochre pigment, spanning craft to hyper-technology. The chair extends my biomimetic, structurally-informed SLM work (see Bio-ComfyUI).
Coalescence, conceived by Christopher Pierce and curated by Nichola Barrington-Leach, responded to the building’s memory as a collective space of labour, through the act of washing. Our 3D metal-printed chair, which grew out of my Bio-ComfyUI research, sat among 30 works spanning casting, ceramics, metalwork, carpentry, paper, stone and 3D printing.
